Tinolang manok is a filipino comfort food made with chicken pieces cooked in ginger-flavored broth.
 
                    Ingredients
- 
                
1 whole chicken, cut to pieces 
- 
                3 cloves of garlic, minced 
- 
                1 medium onion, sliced thinly
                
- 
                2 thumb-sized ginger, julienned 
                
- 3 tbsp fish sauce
- 5 cups water
- 
                1 small sayote, cut into bite-sized pieces 
- 
                1 medium carrot, cut into bite-sized pieces
                
- 
                1 bunch of chili leaves (dahon ng sili) 
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- Heat oil in a pot. Add garlic, onions, and ginger and cook until softened. 
- Add chicken and cook until chicken starts to change color, about 7-10 minutes. 
- Add fish sauce and stir for about a minute. 
- Add water and bring to a boil. Remove the scum that floats on top. Then lower the heat, cover and simmer for about 30 minutes. 
- Add sayote and carrot and cook for another 10 minutes or until vegetables are tender. 
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
